On July 11, 2018, an agreement on the cooperation of the national payment systems “MIR” and “APRA” has been signed.
The unification of payment systems is one of the priority tasks of the banking system of the Republic of Abkhazia. On the one hand, it will give the citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia an opportunity to use “APRA” cards on the territory of the Russian Federation, and on the other hand – to accept “MIR” cards on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia.
An intersystem integration will contribute to the expansion of the territory of the acceptance of the cards issued by the banks participating in the national payment system “APRA”. It will also become the next link in the creation of a single payment space to ensure mutual acceptance of cards by different national payment systems.
The project will be implemented in two stages: at the first stage, it is planned to organise the acceptance of “MIR” cards in the Republic of Abkhazia by autumn 2018. Already in the first quarter of 2019, it will become possible to use “APRA” cards on the territory of the Russian Federation.
