From June 29 to July 1, the National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia participated in the annual Hong Kong International Numismatic Fair (HKINF).
HKINF is the largest numismatic event in Asia that unites auction houses, credit institutions and private collectors from all over the world.
At the stand of the National Bank, the national symbols of the Republic of Abkhazia were represented, as well as commemorative investment coins, the first systematic catalogue of commemorative investment coins of the Republic of Abkhazia in the English language and demonstration materials.
Apart from this, an article was published in the official catalogue of the Fair, which thoroughly covered the coin issuing activity of the National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Given the political situation of today, the participation of the Bank of Abkhazia in the largest international numismatic exhibition is the only opportunity to establish itself as an independent emission centre that represents our republic on a par with other countries, regulating banks and mints.
From 2016, the Bank of Abkhazia annually participates in the International Conference and Coin Exhibition “Coins” that takes place in Moscow. Today, it successfully established itself at the Russian numismatic market.
The Asian region is a new direction for the National Bank. The main goal was to declare oneself at that market. The Asian market is a huge numismatic platform that develops dynamically and is characterised by high sales. It is of great interest from the point of view of the popularisation of Abkhazian coins.
The last international exhibition in which the Bank of Abkhazia participated took place in New York City, the US. On the whole, not only the coins but also the information about the republic itself, its banking and coin issuing activity caused great interest.
Participation in similar events gives the Bank of Abkhazia an opportunity to acquire business contacts and ties that will allow it to expand its activity. In particular, as part of the Hong Kong Fair, agreements were reached with some mints and business cooperation has been started.
The plan for next year is participation in a large numismatic exhibition in Europe and the gaining of access to the European market.
