The Bank of Abkhazia Information Message
 
 
     

On 22 March 2013 the Bank of Abkhazia issues the gold commemorative coins “Dranda Assumption Cathedral”, “Pitsunda St. Andrew the First-called Cathedral”, “Lykhni Assumption Temple”, “Myku Assumption Cathedral”, “Novij Afon St. Simon Kanananios Temple”, “Bedia St. Virgin Maria Cathedral”, “Elyr St George Temple” in denomination of 50 apsars of the series “Historical monuments of Abkhazia”.

The gold coins of 50 apsars (fine precious metal content 15.55 gramms), fineness 999, “Dranda Assumption Cathedral” catalogue № 0320050-001, “Pitsunda St. Andrew the First-called Cathedral” catalogue № 0320050-002, “Lykhni Assumption Temple” catalogue № 0320050-003, “Myku Assumption Cathedral” catalogue № 0320050-004, “Novij Afon St. Simon Kanananios Temple” catalogue № 0320050-005, “Bedia St. Virgin Maria Cathedral” catalogue № 0320050-006, “Elyr St George Temple” catalogue № 0320050-007) of the series “Historical monuments of Abkhazia” 30 мм diameter.

On obverse and reverse sides of the coins there is a rim raised along the circumference.

The obverse side of all the abovementioned coins in the upper central part in the mirror field has the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Abkhaiza, under it the inscription in the Abkhaz language «Аҧсны Абанк», above the Emblem the semicicular inscriptions indicate the coin denomination of 50 apsars, on the left part along the rim – the indication of the metal according to D. I. Mendeleev Periodic System of Elements and the fineness, in the right part – the Mint trade mark. On the lower part of the coin, in the matted field and the relief small print inscription «Аҧсны Абанк» in five lines - the year of issue “2013” and the individual number of the coin are indicated.

 

The obverse

 

The obverse of the coin “Dranda Assumption Cathedral”. In the centre – the image of Dranda Assumption Cathedral, on the left – the image of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian and on the right – the image of Dranda Cross. Along the circumference the inscription in the Abkhaz language “Dranda Assumption Cathedral”.

On the lower part, under the Cathedral image the construction date is indicated.

 

The reverse

The obverse of the coin “Pitsunda St. Andrew the First-called Cathedral” in the centre has the image of Pitsunda St. Andrew the First-called Cathedral. On the left - the image of the Cathedral remote cross and on the right – the image of the Abkhaz Catholicos mitre. Along the circumference the inscription in the Abkhaz language “Pitsunda St. Andrew the First-called Cathedral”.

On the lower part, under the Cathedral image the construction date is indicated

In the upper left corner – the images of the cross and the water vessels, being symbols of St. Simon Kanananios. Along the circumference the inscription in the Abkhaz language “Novij Afon St. Simon Kanananios Temple”.

The coin is a legal tender of the Republic of Abkhazia at par value equivalent to Russian rubles. 1 apsar is equal to 10 rubles of the Russian Federation.
