INFORMATION OF THE BANK OF ABKHAZIA
   
 
       

On 24 June 2013 the Bank of Abkhazia issues a silver commemorative coin with selected gold-plating “Novij Afon Monastery” in denomination of 100 apsars of the series “Historical monuments of Abkhazia”.

The silver coin with selected gold-plating “Novij Afon Monastry” catalogue № 0360100-008 in denomination of 100 apsars of the series “Historical monuments of Abkhazia” (fine precious metal content 155.5 grams, fineness 925, full-circle of 60 мм diametre.

On the obverse and reverse sides of the coin there is a rim raised along the circumference.

In the upper central part in the matted field there is a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Abkhazia and a Christian ornament under it. In the upper part in the mirror field there is a semicircular inscription in the Abkhaz language «Аҧсны Абанк». On the left and on the right of the Emblem there are solar signs and the Mint trade mark with the indication of the metal according to D. I. Mendeleev Periodic System of Elements and the fineness. On the lower part of the coin, in the matted field the inscriptions in the Abkhaz language «Анакопиа- Афон чыц», the denomination of 100 apsars and the year of issue “2013” are indicated.

The reverse: the mirror field in the shape of an equilateral cross in the diagonal corners of which there are ancient crosses images in the matted field. In the cross mirror field, in the centre in the background there are Novij Afon Monastery and the Star of Bethlehem images. In the foreground there is an image of St. Virgin Maria Icon (over-the –gate) in the centre, Simon Kanananios the Apostle image on the left and St. Panteleimon Healer on the right. Under the icon there is a uncial inscription of the monastery name and the laying of the foundation stone date. The coin elements, such as the icon, the dome and the nimbi are made in colour by pad printing and selected gold-plating.

The issued coins are legal tender of the Republic of Abkhazia in their denomination having a firm equivalent in Russian rubles – 1 apsar equals to 10 Russian rubles.
